I am a Boston-born, New York- and Connecticut-raised, Vermont-college grad who as an adult has lived in Manhattan, Arizona and now Portland, Oregon. I started my career in book publishing before shifting to public relations, and work as a health communications specialist, writer and nutrition + wellness consultant.
You can often find me experimenting in the kitchen, traveling, brewing a pot of tea or whisking up a matcha or herbal latte, practicing yoga, spending time outdoors, reading and researching, connecting with family and friends.
In both my professional and personal life, I am strongly driven by my passion for nutrition, health and wellness, and helping others. Following is an overview of my main areas of focus:
INTEGRATIVE HEALTH & WELLNESS COACHING
I am what I consider a “forever student” of nutrition and health, having studied these areas and their intersect for more than fifteen years and continue to do so. I earned certification as a holistic and integrative health coach through the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, and work with individuals, small groups and corporate entities to develop a plan for and help guide the implementation of a healthier lifestyle. Both in-person and distance programs are available and developed/tailored on an individual basis.
I’ve been fascinated with cooking and baking since I was a kid, and over the years have honed my home-cooking skills by a combination of lots of practice and continuing education. I specialize in, but am not limited to, working with plant-based foods. I love to approach recipe development creatively, drawing inspiration from farmers markets, restaurants, cookbooks, magazines. I enjoy healthifying foods while maintaining or enhancing deliciousness. I also draw on my extensive nutrition and health knowledge to create food and drink recipes and menus that are healing and health-supportive.
I can style food to look nice, but I don’t consider myself to be a “food stylist”. My primary focus is real food that both tastes and feels good, and can be replicated with relative simplicity by anyone else in their home kitchen.
Yoga allows us to tap into the power of our mind-body-spirit like little else can. As a Yoga Alliance-registered yoga instructor (RYT 200), I teach private and semi-private lessons as well as offer corporate instruction, with a focus on strength, restoration and mind-body balance.
As a public relations and communications specialist, I work with industry-leading companies, organizations, agencies and individuals across the health care and nutrition spectrums. From creative, strategic and tactical planning and activation/execution, to taking brands from pre- to post-launch and beyond, re-branding, patient advocacy efforts, consumer / patient awareness activities and campaigns, and various professional communications, my expertise spans the full spectrum of health care communications support. Within the pharmaceutical industry, my work includes U.S. and EU regulatory decision support, issues management, corporate and brand positioning / messaging, clinical data announcement and medical meeting support, and collateral/communications content development.
I am also a freelance writer, contributing to several consumer and wellness-focused publications (i.e., Healthlinecom, ThisDishIsVeg.com). I am currently also a regular contributor to TheWhiskeyWash.com.
